Find out how Kings County Distillery became the oldest whiskey distillery in New York City since prohibition! Learn about our process from milling, mashing, fermenting, and distilling then enter our barrel room for a tasting of some of our core products.

Whiskey Tasting Classes

Outside of tours, we also offer guided whiskey tastings. Guests will learn the fascinating history of whiskey, as they sip along with one of our specially created flights.

Tastings also cover the production process, and take an in-depth look at barrel aging and blending. Our expert hosts will reveal the secrets of the pros as they teach you how to nose, taste, and evaluate a whiskey like a distiller.

Empire Rye Tour (Oct 25 & 26)

In celebration of Rye Week, Kings County Distillery is hosting a special tour all about rye! Learn about how Kings County Distillery became one of the original New York distilleries to offer Empire Rye as a distinct product of New York State. Stand on the distillery floor and learn more about the science and magic of mashing, fermentation and pot distillation. Take in the angel's share in our barrel room and find out how the spirit is mellowed by the oak while it picks up all its color and develops deeper flavors.

Dead Distillers Halloween Tour (Oct 31 & Nov 2)

It’s time for boos and booze! New York City’s oldest whiskey distillery is delivering frights and flights on this special, new and improved Halloween tour celebrating the dark history of our Navy Yard Home and the spirits of those pioneers and rebel distillers who came before us and often met gristly ends.


Take a new and updated tour based on Dead Distillers: A History of the Upstarts and Outlaws Who Made American Spirits (written by Kings County Distillery founders Colin Spoelman and David Haskell), featuring local tales and ghost stories of gangsters, bootleggers, pirates and outlaws.

Enjoy a special five whiskey flight and then have some cocktails at the Gatehouses, located in the original spooky 1896 gatehouses of the Brooklyn Navy Yard. Come in costume to receive a complimentary bonus tasting after the tour.
